As a full member of TAANZ, New Zealand Travel Brokers subscribes to consumer protection arrangements to ensure client funds are kept safe.

These include:

  1. All client funds are paid directly into and held in a trust account until remitted to suppliers.
  2. We meet strict accounting standards and our financial statements are independently audited by TAANZ quarterly
  3. We’re a part of the TAANZ bonding scheme and consumer fund

If a TAANZ member were to go out of business, the TAANZ consumer fund is there to claim for travel services that have been paid for, but not provided to the traveller. You can read more on the consumer fund, and the benefits of dealing with TAANZ members on the TAANZ website.

These arrangements are unique to TAANZ Travel Advisors. Travel agents who aren’t TAANZ members do not have these protections in place, and the customers of these travel agents aren’t covered.

Essentially, when you see the TAANZ or ATA tick, you’re covered by these consumer protection arrangements.
