With 2020 just around the corner, we’ve dug through our records for 2019 (with some help from our friends at Expedia) to find out which countries were the most popular.
5. Fiji
If you’re looking for sun, sand and relaxation, Fiji is the obvious choice. As a holiday destination, it works for couples, it works for families, it just works!
Best time to go: Fiji’s wet season is between November and April, but you can happily travel during these months too!
4. UK
The UK is still always popular with travellers. It’s the gateway to Europe and beyond, and still popular in its own right.
It’s the start point for tours and cruise, and of course, we can’t forget about the famous Kiwi OE!
Best time to go: April to September is the best climate-wise (although all those jokes about the weather exist for a reason!) But really, so long as you pack appropriately, travel any time.
3. New Zealand
Coming in at 3rd is New Zealand! Some of these bookings are for domestic travel, while a large proportion comes from hotels near Auckland airport for travellers overnighting before catching their next flight.
Best time to go: You’re probably already here! But for our overseas friends, Summer (December, January, February) or early Autumn (March-April) is our pick.
2. USA
With so many flight options to the USA (and Hawaii), there’s never been a better time to visit! It’s not an exaggeration to say that the US can check pretty much every box on your holiday wishlist.
After a ‘stop and flop’? Look no further than Hawaii. Keen on scenery? Their national parks are MAGNIFICENT! Are you a foodie? Your options are limitless!
Best time to go: This will depend on the states you plan to visit. Southern states and Hawaii are rarely what we’d consider cold, but the further north you go the more seasonal variation you’ll find.
1. Australia
No surprises here, Australia is the most popular destination for Kiwi travellers. It’s a short flight (to the Eastern cities at least) and there’s something for everyone with surf, sun, sand, food, art, shopping… the list goes on!
Best time to go: Anytime depending on what you want to see. Summer is always popular (November/December – March) for beachgoers but events like Vivid Sydney in May/June are spectacular too.
